Before Using Protonix

Inform your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Protonix, call your doctor.

Additional Monitoring of Your Dose or Condition May Be Needed If You Are Taking:

  • Digoxin
  • Iron
  • Itraconazole
  • Ketoconazole (Nizoral)
  • Sucralfate
  • Ampicillin
  • Vitamins with iron

Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had liver disease. Tell your doctor if you use tobacco products. Cigarette smoking may decrease the effectiveness of this drug.
