Prevacid Drug Interactions

Allergies

Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to Prevacid. Also tell your health care professional if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or dyes.

Before Taking Prevacid

Tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking, especially:

  • Ampicillin
  • Digoxin (Lanoxin)
  • Iron containing medicines (including multivitamins)
  • Ketoconazole (Nizoral)
  • Sucralfate (Carafate)
  • Theophylline (Theo-Dur)
  • Vitamins

Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had liver or kidney disease.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Prevacid, call your doctor. Breast feeding plus use of Prevacid may pass into the breast milk. Since Prevacid has been shown to cause unwanted effects such as tumors in animals, it may be necessary for you to take another medicine or to stop breast feeding during treatment. Be sure you have discussed the risks and benefits of Prevacid with your doctor.
